The activity log is the full history of one lead: every step that was sent, from which mailbox, when it was opened, which links were clicked, and the reply text. Use it before you answer a reply, when a lead claims they never heard from you, or to work out why a lead is stuck.
Steps
- Open the campaign in Campaigns and click Contacts.
- Find the lead with the search bar or a Status filter.
- Click the lead's name or email to open the lead panel.
- Select the Activity (or Timeline) tab.
You see a chronological list of events, newest first.
What each event means
| **Event** | **Meaning** |
| **Added** | Lead was added to the campaign, from which list or CSV. |
| **Sent – Step N (Variant A)** | The email for that step was sent. Shows the sending mailbox and the subject line. |
| **Opened** | The tracking pixel loaded. Multiple opens are logged separately. |
| **Clicked** | A tracked link was clicked, with the URL. |
| **Replied** | A reply was received. The reply body and the AI category appear here. |
| **Bounced** | The email was rejected, with the bounce reason from the receiving server. |
| **Unsubscribed** | The lead used the unsubscribe link. |
| **Paused / Resumed / Stopped** | Manual actions, with who did them. |
| **Status changed** | Any status change, automatic or manual. |
From the same panel you can read the full email thread, reply from the sending mailbox, and change the lead's status or reply category manually.
Tips
- Read the thread here before replying so you match the tone and the variant the lead actually received.
- Opens are a weak signal. Apple Mail Privacy Protection and corporate security scanners trigger opens automatically, so a lead with five opens and no reply may never have read anything. Clicks and replies are reliable.
- Use the bounce reason text to distinguish hard bounces ("user unknown", "no such recipient") from soft bounces ("mailbox full", "try again later").
- If a lead replied from a different address, mark the original lead as replied here so follow-ups stop.
Troubleshooting
- No opens or clicks logged: open tracking or link tracking is turned off for the campaign, or the recipient's client blocks images. See Open tracking and link tracking.
- Sent event exists but lead says nothing arrived: check the bounce events; if none, the email most likely landed in spam. Review mailbox health under Mailbox → Warm up.
- Reply is missing from the log: replies are read from the sending mailbox. Confirm the mailbox is still connected and that the reply was sent to that address, not to a signature address.
