AI enrichment writes a short, specific opening line for each contact using what OutreachFox knows about them: their title, company, website, LinkedIn profile and any enriched fields. The line is stored in a custom field and inserted into your email with a variable, so every email opens with something that could only have been written for that person. Done well, personalised first lines lift reply rates by 30–50% over a generic opener.

Prerequisites

  • Contacts in a list with, at minimum, company name and website or LinkedIn URL. More data produces better lines; run waterfall enrichment first if fields are missing.
  • Credits. AI enrichment is charged per generated line.

Steps

  1. Click Contacts and open the list.
  2. Select the contacts.
  3. Choose AI enrich (or Generate first lines) from the actions menu.
  4. Choose a template or write your own prompt. A working starting prompt:

Write one sentence (max 20 words) that shows I looked at {{company}}'s website and understand what they do. Reference a specific product, customer or claim. No flattery, no exclamation marks, no "I noticed".

  1. Choose the output field, for example a custom field named first_line.
  2. Generate a sample of 5–10 lines and read them. Adjust the prompt until you would send them yourself.
  3. Click Generate to run the full list.
  4. When the job finishes, spot-check 20 lines. Edit or clear any that are wrong.

Steps: use the line in your sequence

  1. Open the campaign's sequence editor.
  2. Place the cursor at the start of the email body.
  3. Click Variables and pick first_line.
  4. Write the rest of the email as usual. Use Preview to see the line rendered for real contacts.
  5. Provide a fallback (in the variable options, or with Spintext) for contacts where the line is empty, for example Saw {{company}} is hiring in sales.

What a good first line looks like

  • Specific: names a product, page, post or number from the company.
  • Short: under 20 words.
  • Plain: no compliments, no "I was impressed by".
  • Relevant: connects to the reason you are writing.

Example: Your pricing page lists a 14-day trial for teams under 50, which is exactly the segment we help onboard.

Tips

  • Constrain the model in the prompt: word limit, banned phrases, what to reference. Vague prompts produce vague lines.
  • Generate for one ICP at a time; a prompt tuned for SaaS founders reads wrong for hospital administrators.
  • Do not stack AI lines with heavy spintext; one personalised sentence plus a clear, short email beats a paragraph of variation.
  • Re-run on contacts whose title or company changed after re-enrichment.

Troubleshooting

  • Lines are generic ("your company does great work"): the contact lacks a website or LinkedIn URL. Enrich those fields first.
  • Lines mention the wrong company: a company name is ambiguous. Include the website in the prompt inputs.
  • Line is empty for some contacts: not enough data. Use a fallback in the variable so the email still reads correctly.
