Searching the lead database is free. Revealing a person's email address costs credits. OutreachFox finds the address through waterfall enrichment across 50+ data providers, verifies it, and only charges you when it delivers a verified result. This article explains the unlock flow, the credit rules, and how to keep credit spend efficient.
Prerequisites
- A workspace with credits (see your plan under Settings → Billing / Credits).
- A lead search with results (see Lead database overview: search by ICP filters).
Steps
- In Lead List, open your search results.
- Tick the leads to unlock, or tick select-all. Set a maximum number if you only want the first N results.
- Click Unlock (or Reveal emails).
- Confirm the estimated credit cost shown in the dialog.
- Wait for the job to finish. Progress is shown at the top of the list; large batches take a few minutes because each lead is checked against several providers in sequence.
- Unlocked leads now show the email, its verification status, and any extra fields the providers returned (phone, LinkedIn URL, company data).
How credits are charged
| **Result** | **Charged?** |
| **Verified** email found | Yes, 1 credit per lead |
| **Catch-all / accept-all** email found | Yes, 1 credit (address exists at a domain that accepts everything; treat as risky) |
| **No email found** after the full waterfall | No |
| Lead already unlocked in this workspace | No, the existing data is reused |
| Phone number reveal (where offered) | Separate credit rate, shown before you confirm |
Credits are deducted per lead, not per provider queried. If the first provider has nothing and the fifth has a verified address, that is still one credit.
Checking your balance
Go to Settings → Credits. You see the current balance, usage this period, and the renewal date. Monthly plan credits reset; purchased top-up credits roll over.
Tips
- Unlock in batches of 100–500 and push each batch to a campaign before unlocking the next. This keeps addresses fresh and lets you check the bounce rate before spending more.
- Filter out catch-all results into their own list and send them from a separate campaign with a lower daily limit and bounce protection at 2%.
- Always dedupe against your CRM before unlocking; existing customers and open opportunities waste credits.
- Set an alert or check the balance weekly if several people share the workspace.
Troubleshooting
- Unlock finished with fewer emails than leads selected: some leads had no findable email. You were not charged for those.
- "Insufficient credits": buy a top-up under Settings → Credits or unlock a smaller batch.
- An unlocked email bounced: verification is a point-in-time check. Report it (where the option exists) and remove the lead; typical residual bounce on verified data is 1–2%.
