The unsubscribe header adds a List-Unsubscribe header to each email. Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook read it and show an Unsubscribe button next to the sender name at the top of the message, separate from any link in the body. Since 2024 Gmail and Yahoo require this header from bulk senders, and it reduces spam complaints for everyone because recipients opt out instead of hitting "Report spam".

Steps

  1. Open the campaign, click Edit Campaign, then Settings.
  2. Click Show Advanced Configurations and scroll to Risk Control.
  3. Switch on Unsubscribe Header. This adds the one-click unsubscribe button next to your email, the way Gmail displays it.

  1. Customise the text if needed, and make sure the toggles you want (message and/or header) are on.

  1. Click Resume Campaign to save.

What you see afterwards: recipients in Gmail see an "Unsubscribe" button beside the sender address. Clicking it removes them from the campaign; nothing visible changes in the email body.

Tips

  • Turn on both Include Unsubscribe Message and Unsubscribe Header. The header covers Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook; the body link covers clients that do not surface the header.
  • The header is invisible in the email body, so it does not affect the look of plain text emails.
  • Combine with a bounce-rate pause and a low daily volume per mailbox (30–50) for a complete deliverability baseline.
  • Make sure SPF, DKIM and DMARC are set on the sending domain. Mail providers only honour one-click unsubscribe from authenticated senders.

Troubleshooting

  • No Unsubscribe button in Gmail — Gmail shows the button only for authenticated senders with some sending history; verify DKIM/DMARC on the domain. It also appears only in the recipient's view, not in your Sent folder.
  • Button visible but click does nothing — the campaign was paused or deleted before the click was processed; the contact is still marked unsubscribed on OutreachFox's side.
