Once a sequence works, you will want to run it again for a new list, a new region or a new sender set without rebuilding every step, delay and variant. This article shows how to save a sequence as a template and start new campaigns from it, and how to copy a campaign when a template is not available.
Prerequisites
- A campaign whose sequence you are happy with (steps, delays, variants and settings).
Steps
Save a sequence as a template
- Open the campaign from Campaigns and go to the sequence editor.
- Open the sequence menu (three dots next to the sequence name) and choose Save as Template.
- Give the template a descriptive name, for example SaaS – 4-step – case study.
- Click Save. Steps, delays, variants and spintext are stored. Contacts, sender accounts and campaign settings are not part of the template.
Start a new campaign from a template
- Click Create Campaign, enter a name and select the channel type.
- On the sequence screen, choose Use Template instead of Start with Email and pick your template.
- Edit any step that should differ (offer, dates, case study), then click Save and Next.
- Choose sender accounts, upload or map contacts, review settings and click Launch Campaign.
Duplicate a campaign instead
- In the Campaigns list, open the three-dots menu on the source campaign and click Duplicate.
- The copy contains the sequence and settings but no contacts. Rename it, then edit and launch as usual.
Tips
- Keep templates generic: use variables and spintext rather than hard-coded company names, so a template works for any list.
- Version your templates in the name (v1, v2) and note the reply rate in the description so you know which to reuse.
- Templates capture copy, not performance. Re-check spam words after editing a template; a new offer can introduce new triggers.
- Duplicating a live campaign is the fastest way to run the same sequence with a different sender set, for example one campaign per mailbox provider.
- Review templates every quarter. Openers that referenced a season, event or news item go stale.
Troubleshooting
- Template does not appear when creating a campaign — templates are per channel type; an email template will not show for a LinkedIn Outreach campaign.
- Changing a template did not change existing campaigns — templates are copied at creation time. Update each running campaign separately.
- Duplicated campaign is paused — duplicates always start paused with no contacts; add contacts and launch.
